Backing Up and Restoring Dash Enterprise

This documentation is for Dash Enterprise.
Dash Enterprise is the fastest way to write & deploy Dash apps and
Jupyter notebooks.
10% of the Fortune 500 uses Dash Enterprise to productionize AI and
data science apps. Find out if your company is using Dash Enterprise.

This guide can help you create a backup of your Dash Enterprise instance and use it to restore Dash Enterprise to a previous state on the same VM. Restoring on a different VM is not supported.

If Dash Enterprise is installed on a bare metal server, contact us for help with backup and restore.

If Dash Enterprise is installed on a multi-node cluster, see the backup and restore procedure for multi-node.

You’ll back up everything in your Dash Enterprise server—including Dash apps deployed by members of your organization, user information, your Dash Enterprise license, and more—so that Dash Enterprise is ready shortly after a restore.

The officially supported way to back up Dash Enterprise is with your cloud provider’s tools.

Prerequisites

Creating and Scheduling Backups

Important: We recommend creating and scheduling backups when there is no app developer activity on Dash Enterprise. Actions like creating new apps trigger write events on the disk to be snapshotted, and restoring from a backup taken midway through writing could cause Dash Enterprise to be unhealthy.
